DREAMERS ARE WELCOME
My collage practice is rooted in working entirely by hand. Each piece is constructed from found imagery sourced from books, magazines, and journals, with no digital processes involved. Images are cut, layered, and assembled intuitively, allowing meaning to emerge through physical placement rather than pre-determined composition.
The work draws from nature, folklore, and the unseen world, where myth and symbolism offer ways of understanding what sits beneath everyday experience. Alongside this, political and social references surface naturally—reflecting power, vulnerability, identity, and collective memory. These elements are not illustrated directly, but woven into the imagery through metaphor and juxtaposition.
Working exclusively with existing materials is both a practical and conceptual choice. The collages are built from what already exists—images once produced for other purposes—reassembled into new narratives. This process mirrors a broader interest in transformation, reuse, and attention: giving discarded or overlooked material a renewed voice and presence.
Each collage is made slowly and deliberately, embracing imperfection, visible joins, and the physicality of paper. Meaning remains open rather than fixed, inviting the viewer to navigate between beauty, unease, humour, and reflection.
