DIMITRIS KOUTROUMPAS
Dimitris Koutroumpas is a contemporary collage and mixed-media artist whose work explores dream worlds, mythology and the unseen forces that shape human experience.
Growing up in Greece in the 1980s, Dimitris often felt like an outsider. Much of his childhood was spent dreaming and escaping into imagination. At school, he would sit in class drawing , without understanding why. Even so, he was often told that art was a waste off time.
For many years he felt he had to hide parts of who he was and live behind a version of himself that the world expected.
Art became the place where he finally found belonging.
Working as an eco and botanical artist, Dimitris uses natural and reclaimed materials.
Through his distinctive visual language of collage and sculptural forms, Dimitris creates powerful symbolic figures that feel both protective and playful - guardians, companions and mythic beings that inhabit a dreamlike world just beyond the visible.
Drawing on folklore, spirituality and the natural world, his work invites viewers into a space where fragments of the past are reassembled into something entirely new.
Life experiences, including moments of profound danger and survival, have deeply shaped his practice and left him with a strong sense that unseen forces - whether ancestors, energy or grace - can guide and protect us.
Through his work, Dimitris gives form to that invisible presence.
For Dimitris, art is not decoration.
It is survival, belonging and meaning
