DIMITRIS KOUTROUMPAS
DREAMERS ARE WELCOME

Dimitris Koutroumpas creates striking, surreal worlds both from the forgotten fragments of our throwaway society and from carefully foraged flora. His analogue collages - bursting with magical hares on cosmic odysseys and amanita-mushroom goddesses - invite viewers to reimagine their relationship with nature and myth. His practice also includes immersive installations, assemblage, paintings and papier-mâche. The divergence of this work recontextualise childhood fables and environmental commentary, often incorporating deconstructed tech waste (circuit boards, mobile phones) alongside natural ephemera he forages himself. His creations are celebrations of inclusivity, transforming abandoned objects into spaces where dreamers of all backgrounds feel welcome.
Current projects include work towards a Creative Spaces design for Chelsea Flower Show 2026; his series on inclusive icons, ‘All Are Sacred’; and sculptural nature spirits - reclaimed mannequins transformed with foraged materials into deities of ecological renewal.
Originally from Greece and based in Somerset (UK) for over a decade, Dimitris combines otherworldly art with urgent ecological storytelling. When not rescuing paper relics from oblivion, the artist forages for natural materials on his extensive travels around the UK and Europe. He also hosts art-making gatherings, to democratise creativity, a passion from his time as co-director of the Rubbish Art Project (Art Bank) in Somerset.
